Adopted By Grace
Belonging to God
as our Father
Week of
January 18, 2026
Theme
As we pray this week, we are preparing our hearts to hear from our Father as we remind ourselves of the gift of adoption.
Scriptures
Romans 8:14-17: For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Ephesians 1:3-6: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
Notice
Our Heavenly Father is perfect and preexistent; He chose us, in His preexistence to share in the abundance of His riches as His children.
And He finds pleasure in it.
What an incredibly generous God, deserving of all our praise.
Pray
Abba, how could we ever thank you enough?
We have been created, we are sustained… and beyond that we have been welcomed into Your eternal family.
We acknowledge that our welcome came at a price.
Thank you Father, for Your perfect will.
Thank You Jesus, for taking our punishment, that we might be reconciled to you.
Thank you Holy Spirit, for sparking this understanding in us and allowing us to respond to this grace and mercy.
Practice
Each day, reread this passage and remind yourself by speaking aloud,
“I am a child of God.”
Let that simple message translate into a day lived in confidence as a recipient of infinite spiritual abundance.
Live generously, humbly and kindly, for you are a child of God!
