As we pray this week, we are proclaiming the good news that God has established His Church and is still at work in it today

Scriptures

Matthew 16:16-18: Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Hebrews 10:19-25: Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Reflect

In Matthew 16:16-18, Peter boldly declares, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” This confession is the foundation of Christian faith. Jesus affirms that this truth was revealed by God and declares that His church will be built upon this unshakable reality.

This passage reminds us that faith is more than knowing facts about Jesus; it is personally recognizing Him as Lord and Savior. When our lives are grounded in Christ, we find strength, purpose, and security amid life's challenges. Just as Jesus promised to build His church, He continues to sustain and strengthen those who place their trust in Him.

Hebrews 10:19-25 reminds us that because of Jesus' sacrifice, we have direct access to God's presence. We no longer need to approach God with fear or uncertainty but can draw near with confidence, knowing that Christ has made a way for us.

The passage also encourages us to hold firmly to our hope, even during challenges and seasons of doubt. God's faithfulness is the foundation of our confidence. At the same time, we are not meant to walk our faith journey alone. We are called to encourage and inspire one another, and remain committed to fellowship.

Together, these passages remind us that our lives are grounded in Christ and strengthened through Christian community. When we confess Jesus as Lord, draw near to God, and support fellow believers, we participate in the work of building a strong and faithful church. In a world filled with uncertainty, our hope remains secure because it rests on Christ, the Son of the living God, and on the promises of a faithful God who never fails.

Pray

Father God,

Thank You for revealing Your Son, Jesus Christ, as the Messiah and Savior of the world. Help me to build my life upon the unshakable foundation of who Jesus is. Strengthen my faith so that I may boldly confess Him in my words, actions, and daily choices.

Because of Christ's sacrifice, I can come before You with confidence. Help me to draw closer to Your presence and help me hold firmly to the hope You have given me. When doubts, challenges, or distractions come, remind me of Your faithfulness and love.

Lord, teach me to be an encouragement to others. Show me ways to inspire fellow believers toward love, service, and perseverance. Help me value fellowship, support those who are struggling, and contribute to building a strong and Christ-centered community.

May my life bring glory to You and reflect the hope and confidence

found in Jesus Christ alone.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
