In Christ...(Part 1)

Belonging to God

the Son

Theme

As we pray this week, we are participating in the Story of God by embracing our identity as being In Christ.

Scriptures

2 Corinthians 5:17-21: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Ephesians 2:4-10: But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Reflect

The new creation indicates to us that God is the source of all creation,

and because of His omniscience, He gives us free will to choose reconciliation.

Though we’re all dead in transgression, we have the option to repent in confession.

We’re all broken sinners. By admitting it in confession, we become winners.

Because God does not count our sins against us,

be thankful that with prayer we can be closer to Him.

Ask His blessing in a prayerful request,

As you avail yourself of His offer to be blessed

Adoration

God is a loving and forgiving God. He sent His Son to be the payment of our sin so that we can have a relationship with Him.

Confession

Read the Scripture again and ask God what He wants you to know.

Be current and specific knowing that God is waiting to hear and to forgive.

Thanksgiving

Thanks God for His mercy and forgiveness and for not holding our sins against us. Thank Him for the gift of His grace through Jesus Christ.

Supplication

Ask God to make you a good ambassador for Him and to guide you to the work He has chosen for you.

Ask God to lead you to pray for those who have needs and those who need Him.
