As we pray this week, we are persevering in praying for all of the civil and military men and women who serve us

Scriptures

Proverbs 11:30: The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,

and the one who is wise saves lives.

Romans 13:4 For he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.

Reflect

It can be easy to focus on our leaders, and forget about all of the people who work hard in order to make our country work. Whether they are civilian or military, the amount of men and women who work hard in order to keep our country functioning is huge. And these people are often overlooked or treated as just another part of an institution that we are either in favor of or against. But, these are men and women, made in the image of God, and needed His strength, grace, mercy, and redemption.

Those who work in all levels of our government need wisdom and discernment, and need to do their jobs well and justly. Holding them, and not just our leaders, in our prayers is a gift and privilege that God has given us to do.

Pray

Lord, thank you for the men and women who work to protect and serve us. We pray that you will use them to protect and provide for us, to ensure that justice exists in our land, to equip and empower men and women to do good in our country. Redeem, strengthen, and protect them. Give them integrity, courage, discernment, and skill.
