Ransom and Redeem

Growing in Faith

by Loving the Lord with all our Heart

Week of

May 31, 2026

Theme

As we pray this week, we are participating in the Story of God by asking God to ransom and redeem the hearts of others

Scriptures

Colossians 1:19-20: For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

1 Timothy 2:1-6: I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.

Reflect

God’s heart since the beginning has been to be with humanity. When we chose rebellion, He chose to redeem and rescue us. Our God is the Savior who overcomes the powers of sin and death and brings us back into relationship with Himself.

All the members of the Trinity care deeply for the redemption of humanity. The Father has ordained it, the Son has provided for it, and the Spirit has enabled and empowered it.

The more our hearts become like God’s, the more our hearts will long for God’s Kingdom to come and fill the world. The more our hearts become like God’s, the more our hearts will long for people to come to Jesus, that they may live in God’s Kingdom forever more.

Pray

Holy Father, you rescue men and women from the domination and domain of darkness. Please, rescue those around me.Lord Jesus, you who died to save sinners, please pour out your mercy and grace and save those in our country.

Holy Spirit, you who give life to our mortal bodies and draw us to Christ, bring men and women all over the world into the eternal Kingdom of the Son.

My God, use me today to help men and women come to know you.

Guide my eyes to see, my ears to hear, my heart to empathize,  my hands to serve, and my lips to speak of you.
