As we pray this week, we are proclaiming the good news that God uses His Church to represent His Kingdom
Scriptures
1 Peter 2:9-12: But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God;once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
Colossians 1:9-14: For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Reflect
In 1 Peter 2:9-12, Peter reminds believers of their true identity in Christ. We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, and God's own possession. Having been called out of darkness into His marvelous light, we are meant to proclaim His goodness through both our words and our actions.
This passage encourages us to remember that our lives are a testimony to the world around us. As followers of Christ, we are called to live with integrity, humility, and holiness, reflecting God's character in every situation. Even when facing challenges or misunderstandings, our conduct can point others to God's grace and truth.
In Colossians 1:9-14, Paul prays that believers would be filled with the knowledge of God's will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. This prayer reminds us that God desires more than our awareness of Him. He desires transformed lives that reflect His character and purpose.
As we seek God's guidance, we are called to live in ways that please Him, bearing fruit through good works and growing deeper in our relationship with Him. Paul also reminds us that the Christian journey is not sustained by our own strength but by God's power, which enables us to endure challenges with patience and joy.
Most importantly, this passage points us to the grace of God through Christ. We have been rescued from the dominion of darkness and brought into the kingdom of His beloved Son, where we have redemption and forgiveness. Knowing what God has done for us should fill our hearts with gratitude and inspire us to live faithfully each day.
Together, these passages remind us that our identity and purpose are inseparable. Because we belong to God, we are called to live differently. As we seek His wisdom and depend on His strength, our lives become a testimony of His love, truth, and redeeming power. Each day is an opportunity to reflect His light and bear fruit that brings glory to Him.
Pray
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for choosing me and calling me out of darkness into Your marvelous light. I am grateful that through Your love and grace, I belong to You and am part of Your holy people. Help me remember my identity in Christ and live in a way that honors Your name.
Lord, fill me with the knowledge of Your will through wisdom and discernment, and guide my thoughts, decisions, and actions so that I may walk in a manner worthy of You. Strengthen me with Your power when I face challenges, discouragement, or uncertainty, and help me be patient and faithful as I follow You, even when the path is difficult.
Father, let my life bear fruit that reflects Your goodness. May my words show kindness, my actions demonstrate Your love, and my character point others to Jesus. Use me as a light in my family, workplace, church, and community so that others may see Your grace at work in me.
Thank You for redeeming me, forgiving my sins, and bringing me into Your kingdom. May everything I do bring glory and honor to You.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
