Where Your Heart…

Growing in Faith

by Loving the Lord with all our Heart

Week of

May 10, 2026

Theme

As we pray this week, we are participating in the Story of God by setting our hearts on God

Scriptures

Psalm 27:4: One thing I ask from the Lord,

    this only do I seek:

that I may dwell in the house of the Lord

all the days of my life,

to gaze on the beauty of the Lord

and to seek him in his temple.

Matthew 6:19-21 :“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Reflect

There are many things that fight for our time and our attention. Whether it's work, bills, school, family, friends, hobbies, art, nature, or entertainment, the sheer amount of things we have to think about is overwhelming.

Our hearts are easy to fill up - and there is so much good in this world to fill them with. But, in the end, all of these things will disappoint. As good as they are, none of them can sustain being the ultimate focus of our hearts and lives.

That is why we have to strive to put first things first, to do the hard work of always ensuring that God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit maintain the primacy in our affections. The moment something or someone matters more to us than the Triune God, the moment our hearts cool and we aren’t desperately in love with God, is the moment that we have to refocus, recenter, and set our hearts on God - the truest treasure.

Pray

Heavenly Father, be the first love in my heart.

Lord Jesus, be the first love in my heart.

Holy Spirit, be the first love in my heart.

Heavenly Father, be the treasure at the center of my being

Lord Jesus, be the treasure at the center of my being

Holy Spirit, be the treasure at the center of my being

Heavenly Father, make my heart long for you more and more

Lord Jesus, make my heart long for you more and more

Holy Spirit, make my heart to long for you more and more

Heavenly Father, glorify your name in my heart

Lord Jesus, glorify your name in my heart

Holy Spirit, glorify your name in my heart
